OK so not to beat around the bush.....I am trying to get back into the home theater game. My wife's depression and her fathers cancer battle has had me sidelined for 2 years. I picked up a 1292 today for 100 bucks. I did it mainly for the red c element. It has a set of HD10F lenses in it. My 9500 has 10gt17's. How do these HD10F's from the 1292 fair? I have been told the ones from G90's are better. Is this worth the swap? Any improvement?

Well, you have both lens in your hands, so check it out, and tell us Wink
They say the newer manufactured lenses even within the same type usualy have better performance, so the HD10F might start with handicap, still it should be much better than a plain old HD10.

I have a set of Fs that I'd love to sell.

Supposedly, the Fs were better than the GT17s but I put my GT17s back on.

And now I get confused....you have better....not using.....selling......awh!!!!

Sounds like you were never sold on them being better. I am still looking for concrete info.

I found the reason why I didn't get great results from the Fs, and it was a problem that I caused when I rebuilt my 9500 a couple of years ago. The mounting plate for the LC assemblies had been installed incorrectly and it's only my fault. So that changed the geometry of the whole setup and that's why I never got great results from the Fs.

I still have them, and as I have STILL not taken the projector apart to fix that problem, and I've got a very small glycol leak to address anyway, I'm going to get to do a fair comparison on them as soon as I get around to tackling that problem.

The Fs are reportedly as good as GT17s if not a little better, but have a wider focus range and are better suited for use on curved screens. I can't attest to that as my screen is flat.

F's are not better than GT-17's. Do a search for a old thread. They do better for curved but fall short on everything else. Still good lenses though.
