I am coming back to crt as I no longer can take digital and it's short coming.
I have never had a great 9" machine and have been leaning towards the Marquee
Ultra 9500LC. Budget is 2500.00 or less shipped to Fort Wayne,Indiana or can pick up.
Wish list would be
1. Short throw Len's ?????????
2. Mint tubes
3. MP mods
4. HDMI input
5. ceiling mount
Is this possible I think so just need to be at the right place at the right time. Read alot of FAQ
and now seem comfortable with the Marquee decision. I have been working with Curt as he has
cornered the market but just want to make sure I am getting the most machine for the money
and the features I want.

There`s no such thing as a short throw lens, sorry, and most 9`lenses all have the same throw give or take, 1.35 X the width of the screen roughly. I`ll let the others chime in on the rest. HDMI is mandatory though.

Well the HD-10L lens is for small screen.
You can try the Barco distance calculator in the download section.

Try get one of the 2008 machines from Curt with new red and green. They have very good boards to start with.
Mike Parker said to me that he is still doing the mods. You have to contact him for that.
The Moome hdmi might take some luck to get one. Moome might start a new batch if there is enough interest he said he was working on one. Or else it is possible to rewire a Sony Moome board.

You could send a mail to Curt. He knows those lenses and what is available at what price much better. I have the GT17 on a 100inch diagonal screen.

Unless someone wants to correct me, they are all 1.35 X the width of the screen, give or take a tiny bit. I know of no significantly shorter throw distances than that.

Ok as you may know by now I was able to get a 9500LC took a little time but we
finally got there. Very nice late model machine that needs a little help but have been
moving in the right direction.
Due to my throw I ended up with a 1080p 72hz 130" diagonal picture with raster's maxed so that is my starting
point. I have purchased MP mod's vim, neck cards, moomee upgrade as well as will be doing the power supply
mods and other boards as well. The projector comes with the latest HD10L and have really good focus so there is no reason
to upgrade these.
What I do need is a hook up on a 9" green and red colored elements.>>>>>> At least a green at fair price.
My observations are a nice machine with a ton of video noise in the signal chain and uprades are needed. Neck boards and vim
are severely lacking as this machine has no usuable video output without blooming. I knew this going in from Mike and the crazy
Brazilian guy.... so my crazy crt projector adventure begins once again as it is good to be back.
Since my screen is so large I am working on a 1 off with Mississippi from AVS. Will be spraying Spandex with a Graco and 1.0
tip as it will take between 7-12 duster coats to make this happen.
Feel free to post on my thread or send some tips my way. So as is projector has a nice image that is very watchable as long as
you don't push it.

I love the image from a crt projector. Granted I haven't seen many digitals as there are no good audio/video places with 100 miles of my location. Hopefully very soon I'll be able to setup a proper home cinema room to really get the most from my 1209s. Welcome back to the darkside

The mods on the Focus board helped very well with noise and blooming. On the Barco 909 there are coils on the power supply lines and with the Mike Parker suggested coils there on the Marquee the picture becomes much better. Do you know the thread on this focusboard? I will search it later. Found it
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=37575.html
I also found that some mods done on the Convergence board significant lowered noise. Mike knows them it was his board I have. Especially the caps made a difference in the noise there to my opinion.
Also the neckboards mods from Mike do a lot and the Vim of cause to the noise.
When I look at my screen these days there is very little noise and very high resolution. I did not change anything in the HV or LVPS yet.
What I also found is that the Barco HFQ900 added a lot to the image compared to the GT17. Better contrast caused by better coating I think. Also better edge focus. However there was some discussion that they might not be the same as the HD10E lenses (from Marquee). I can only say that I am using the HFQ900 and no hair on my head wants to go back

Ok one tip. Get a set of old neckboards and send some spare boards to Mike. With the old neckboards and maybe an old vim you can enjoy some movies while you are waiting for the mods.

Already bought the latest neck boards from Mike and he is modding my moomee card and testing in the video chain.
The best thing about this is Kurt s flying in to mod my projector and do a full calibration. Can't wait
to see what this 9500 can do....

First night was interesting to say the least. I knew my image looked good and was watchable in my dark basement but Kurt confirmed my ftl and I guessed 6ftl and was wrong. The new 9500lc came in at a whopping 5.5ftl. Just by installing the new mods it improved greatly and can I say no noise and fully resolve 1080p. Looking forward to today to actually getting the projector setup and calibrated. Screen shots are useless as neither of our cameras can even come close to what we are seeing on screen. More to follow as Kurt has a long day ahead of him.

5.5 ftL?? 130" is a pretty big screen, but doesn't that look hella dim?
