So I got the new 8500LC home and unpacked only to find it has HD10L lenses on it, so I'm looking for some suggestions on lenses as these won't fill my 107" screen. HD10E or GT17's I was going to make adapters to fit HD145's to my Barco's so I could make adapters for the Marquee.

Find a set of GT17, the prices on those is not as pumped up as the HD10E and HD10F lenses.

And on a standard machine wou wont be getting any usefull improvements with a set of HD10E.

Ill recomend you to find a 9500LC old one just so you have spare boards and can rip off the lenses. Might even be cheeper than buying a set of lenses alone.

Why not buy a set of 9" tubes and convert it to a 9500LC?

Because it's brand new, literally brand new like I unpacked it.

The adapter comment was if there were a lens that was good for the Marquee but needed an adapter I could make one.

Yeah i thought that may be the case, but i wanted to be sure. Wouldnt be the first time someone has come along wanting to fit AC lenses to an LC machine or vise versa

Im not sure if Big E still has the lenses off his 10PG...

wasn't there a guy on AVS that modded a set of 10L's to throw on a larger screen? I remember it vaguely. I could be wrong but I remember something like that.

Case the lens that I have are 10L(all three spare sets)

Not that they can be modded but the set from my 10pg are the best set

If the op wants a set I will gladly pack a set for cheap

To the op I upgraded my marquee from a 8110+ with a worn green tube(uneven wear) to a 9501
The difference is nice and worth the cost
No halos is one huge plus

The HD-10L's are a good starter set of lens

Doing the conversion isn't hard to do
The biggest hurdle is the cost to do the upgrade
The results are worth the cost

Heck I sold my 8 inch tubes and parts from the donor set and made every bit of the money I put into the upgrade

Evan he wont have halos cause his is allready LC. The difference in his case will be vastly brighter and likely sharper.

Yep.....selling the 8 inchers to pay for cost of 9's might be worth it. Would he need plates for this? I participated in one of these upgrades last year on a 8110 but not a 8500LC. Metal Mart made the top and bottom plates and the tubes and lenses came from Curt. Though at the time my friend who bought them was told by Curt that he was lucky to get a set of 10GT17's Not sure how true that is today. Only curt would know.

9" parts are in short supply because that's pretty much what everyone is using these days. NOrmally GT17s are relatively easy to find, but with lots of people converting 8" sets to 9", now the lenses are tough to find.

hmmm, never saw this before. Kinda useless though since a 106" diagonal 16:9 is a lot different than 106" diagonal 4:3 . It also sounds like they're saying GT17 is the best for HT size screens?
