SO I check Craigslist now n then for Barco's and came across a BG808s so I shoot an e-mail and setup a time to check it out. I show up and the guy walks to the door and says you look familiar I know you from somewhere? To which I ask his last name when he replies I say I remember you, we used to work together! Small world, I had no idea he was into CRT's.
So I'm going to be replacing my BD801s with his BG808s hopefully this weekend I can't wait to see the difference I've been running the BD801s in 720p. so 1080 here I come!!!

I've also got a 1948 Fleetline Areo Sedan.

Back to the CRT, I noticed one of the cards doesn't have matching numbers like it was changed I think it's the input voltage and there's a burn mark like something fried. It does turn on and shows the setup I haven't mounted it yet but I'm guessing it's all ready been repaired.[/img]

Try to get a picture up so we can see. If it is the AC input board, it can burn out parts and still work but you loose noise control or safety.

That is the high voltage wire going to the splitter. That black soot can be caused by 2 things. 1 is it may be arcing occasionally or 2, the static charge created by the high voltage may be drawing contaminants to that location. You can keep using it but if you hear an arc every now and then, then this would be the first place to look. Or you can remove that zip tie and examine the wire carefully for cracks or splits.

My concern was reading this as mine has a build date of 1997. "Sometime in late 1997, the 808 models underwent a change in HV circuitry, and the part numbers for the HV components. With the exception of the HV splitter, the HV quadrupler and EHT board cannot be interchanged between late model and earlier model sets. The EHT board will short the main transistor and then blow the main fuse after about an hour of seemingly normal running." I don't wanna ruin anything.

The board number you have in question I believe is the SMPS or low voltage power supply. There use to be a list here somewhere which indicated which HV boards would interchange.

The Tom W. you bought this from, is that the same Tom W that is a member here?

The infamous Tom.W! lol He's a great guy, when we worked together I always admired his Olds. He picked it up for a spare/test chassis and didn't need it since he's going to setup his 1209s.
