Hi everybody,

if you use a new CRT projector with an ATI graphics card 5xxx or that should please check out (Google for) Custom Resolution Utility ( CRU ) . The program allows custom resolutions and is a handy tool to override the EDID .

Since my upgrade to the HD5450 with HDMI ( Audio) and VGA (Video) I had been looking for something like that. Sadly these and newer ATI cards are no longer fully supported by PowerStrip , ie the writing of custom resolutions does not work anymore, the button in the program is out and inactive. The fact that this is and will stay so was also confirmed directly by Entech Taiwan.

you need custom resolutions for:
- unusual aspect ratios ( my screen 3.5 * 1.6 m2)
- specific resolutions with other frequencies than those in the CCC (eg, p48 , p50 , I96 )
- special resolutions to save bandwidth (eg 1920 * 819p48 bluray for 21:9 )
- higher resolution than full HD , especially horizontal
- Is to expand the porches (front and back Proches ) because the controller for image position and width of the projector is no longer sufficient or if you experience image warping with the standard resolution (if it did not fit with me I just in front and back porch about 100 pixels added )

For me, this procedure worked great :

unpack atikmdag-patcher-1.2.3.zip and click (do not know if that was really necessary )
cru-1.1.zip unzip and click
Add desired resolution or edit
reboot ,
Select new reolution in CCC or Powerstip or Windows display settings.

No as comfortable as Powerstrip, but it's working and much much better than manual EDID override

Thanks
hansilili
