I've started re-tubing my 1209s.... amidst the excitement, I'm anxious not to screw it up for both health and economic reasons!
So far I've replaced the blue tube. I've got the old one out and the new one in and it's fired up ok without exploding.... so far so good.....
Apart from..
You have to look closely, but there are a series of fainter parallel slightly sloping lines across the image.... any ideas why? They don't appear on the other (existing) tubes.
Second question, is the advice (the numbers) for the 808s tube below good for the 1209s?

How do you guys move the 2/4 pole magnets? With a tool? A gloved hand? A bare hand?
If I'm going to get zapped, whats the most likely source?

Your g2 level is too high, thus the blue cast all over the screen. Adjust it in the service menu so that the LEDs on the neck boards go out.
I use a bare hand. Mind you, I can't feel 110 volts without wetting my fingers, and recently changed all my light switches to Decora while live.
