Hello, I have just received a Pioneer PLL PL-550 Turntable for Christmas. I have plugged it into a couple of different stereo systems that I have through their "Line-In" receptacles. But there isn't any sound coming through my speakers while I am playing a record. I don't have an owners manual and really want to get this thing working. Does anybody have any clue what I may be doing wrong? Thanks

You need to have a PHONO input on your stereo/receiver. You cannot use AUX/CD/DVD/TAPE/BLU-RAY/VIDEO/LINE IN

If you do not have a PHONO input, you will need to purchase a phono preamp. They can be had cheaply on the internet all over the place. You hook the phono preamp to the LINE IN or whatever other input you prefer, switch you receiver to that input, connect your turntable to the PHONO IN on the phono preamp, and you should be golden! Don' forget to connect the ground wire to the phono preamp as well, so there isn't any feedback noise.

A PL-550 is a superb turntable, one of pioneers finest. Actually very sought after because its a manual table, nice gift!! Smile
