Hi, I have a few air cooled tubes which have an unusual appearance on the glass. See attached photos (pattern marked with red). I only notice an issue when you use a flashlight on the face of the glass. If I didn't use the flashlight, I would of thought the tubes are fine.

One tube has close small lines like a fingerprint which appears to be on the backside of the front glass. When you place a flash light on the front glass the lines stay together but will shift as you move the light. I drained part of the glycol and the lines appear to stay on the backside of the glass. I'm wondering if I have bad glycol which is clinging to the glass?

The other tube appears to have an air bubble. Like the other tube, the "bubble" shifts when I use the flashlight. I pulled the rubber seal on the glycol chamber and the "bubble" didn't escape so I don't think this is an air bubble. Again, I'm thinking it's bad glycol clinging to the backside of the glass.

Anyone know the real cause of these anomalies? Is there such a thing as bad glycol? I'm hoping I don't have to pull the glass to determine the cause.

Might be bad glass. Not perfectly smooth. only way to find out is to remove all the glycol rinse well with water and maybe some CLR
then rinse it out and look at the glass closely.

Possible someone had to replace the glass(been there before) get some clr and go by the defugusing method on the main site I did that with a spare 07ms tube and then rinsed it out with water before putting fresh glycol in you couldn't tell it ever had the fungus and yes this will work with fingerprints

Just for clarification, the "fingerprints" are too large to be actual fingerprints. However, the shape resembles a fingerprint. It seems strange that a fungus would produce these shapes, but maybe? I'll have to drain and see if the CLR and water flush out the distortions.

These tubes have a rubber expansion bulb at the top and a screw plug at the bottom. Any recommendations on glycol filling procedure? I'm guessing I don't fill as recommended on the defugusing webpage. I'm assuming I can just fill to the top of the CRT housing, push the rubber expansion bulb into the glycol, let it bleed past the rubber seal and then secure the rubber bulb. This will leave almost no air in the chamber but the rubber bulb can expand out if needed. When I removed the bulbs they seemed to have no air in the chamber.

Remove the screw and follow the steps on the page

Looks like it is bad glass. Guessing manufacturing defect. Do you think it would affect picture?

I rinsed out the chamber with distilled water after doing the CLR. Should I let the inside of the chamber to dry before refilling with Glycol. I'm thinking it's best not to let dry so there are not any water marks. Suggestion?

Nope I just emptied the glycol rinsed with water then cleaned it with clr then rinsed again then put the glycol in never knew the tube has fungus before and so far it hasn't got fungus again
