So here's a problem that has myself and Nash stumped. This showed up after I replaced a leaking cap on the green segment of the CVA board.

When running 1080p 48/60 my green channel is displaying this large semi-circle that extends down from the top of the image. When I run 800p/72 the semi-circle is not present.

I have done the following:

- replaced the VNB
- replaced VIM
- swapped the R/G VIM cables
- reseated Focus, HDM and CLM
- reinitialized the PJ
- used an LED flash light on tube face (looked for glycol bubbles)

I'm thinking the next thing to change is the CVA...

Any ideas?

I know we went over this a hundred times but I think if it was board related it be on all tubes. Are you sure it is on the tube face and not a reflection off the C-element? And look at the top of the full field where the curve comes into the black raster it is shifted up the entire length of the "circle" are you sure it is the same on the tube face, that shift?

I shifted the phase and the artifact remained stationary which suggests that it's something on either the tube face or c-element (fungus) but that doesn't explain why it only shows up on 1080p and not 800p. Furthermore, I can't see anything when using my LED lantern. The thought of draining the glycol and trying to remove the c-element is nauseating....

Hey JB

This should not be hard to figure out. Unplug the conv yoke and see if the problem remains. Vary the V Size; if the problem moves with the size then it is electronic, if not it is a smudge

I had him do all that except for the size adjustment, he just did phase and it do not move with phase.

Only other possibility is phosphor related. Some kind of weird burn in?

Yeah, I know. I was thinking since it is hemisphere it wasn't one of the internal patterns and it might be some sort of noise in the active image and if it did not move with Phase then it might be an optical issue.

A friend of mine had a similar pattern on a semi refurbished M9000, we found this thing related to the focus adjustment, and unfortunately it was the most visible when it was in the sharpest setting.
Check this, if it is similar issue:

Tweaking with the focus coil made the problem almost completely go away.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, it's a good idea, but when my friend figured it out (months later) that thread was long gone Smile
