Currently using a 1208 with 2x high res and 1x low resolution tube.

I could quite easily reduce the angle from the standard 10.5 degrees to near 0 (i mounted my screen a little high) with almost no effort at all (I even have all the materials required).

I have read about this, i have seen people mention it is possible but is it worth doing? How is the stress on the electronics? I have stepless scheimfplug so that's fine.

Does anyone have any experiences with this, I'm pursuing 1080p48 so any increase in sharpness would be great. Smile

Well, when you do that you wind up needing less keyston so the sides of the image can become straighter on the tube face. This allows you to use more phosphor area, which allows you to move the projector closer to the screen, which will increase brightness and some sharpness. It is a nice tweak if you can do it.

I try and get my clients to mount CRT projectors with some pitch to the screen to help reduce the amount of keystone required.

Check the keystone range your projector has before you go all out.

Thanks for the tip, with my current Unistrut setup + rope and Pulley setup i can very easily lower my projector and test how far i can go!

Also check to see if you already have keystone-shaped wear on your tubes... If you had to reduce your image size to fit the new rectangular image inside the wear zone, you'd be losing ground.

I would love to see a picture of your raising/lowering mechanism. I have mine uninverted in chains hanging almost in the exact middle. Once I get my pj sorted out I will raise it to an exact 90 degree angle. A little to low now with like 10 cm. Doesn't stop me from getting banding tho.. but that of course could be a fault coming from myself and my ways off setting things up. I would love to buy a new CLM with the Marquee Anti Banding done to it so I wouldn't have to bother with that anymore. If it dose work that well that is.. sadly not available anymore. Back in the day, how much did that cost to fix btw.?

Ive always had the CRT in my bedroom set up that way, almost zero keystone. Dont forget the lens flapping afterwards.

A picture isn't really needed, i have a basic unistrut setup, 2 rails vertical 2 horizontal, projector attached with threaded rods. I just attach a pulley to the unistrut, a rope to my projector and i lower or raise it (i have 2 locking pullies).

I just had a chance to lower my projector and do really rough geometry. Actually using quite a lot more phosphor! (0 degrees currently)
