I have had a Zenith 900 Pro (and Zenith 895 - in the box - never used) for over 10 years. I purchased both BEFORE the advent of new technologies. At the time they were state-of-the-art.
The fact I own them, doesn't mean I understand much about how they operate. I have always wondered if I am getting the best performance out of my Zenith 900 Pro which is mounted to the ceiling. Presently, we have it hooked up to a Wii video game machine (1st Gen) via S-Video cable.
I have built a PC from various parts into my over-the-air HDTV receiver; BLU-RAY player; and added 2 TV Tuner Cards so I can use as a TV viewer and DVR. I connect my PC to the Zenith 900 by a BNC cable.
Some of the technical stats for my 2 CRT projectors are:
My question is this -- The Zenith 900 Pro unit can project 1080i High Definition according to everything I have read. But how can that be if the maximum resolution is 1024x768p as shown in the specs above?
Am I missing something. If I am able to project HD, can someone point me in the right direction on how to accomplish that? I have plenty of video cards for my PC laying around. The video cards have DVI outputs. One card (EVGA GTX580 has Two Dual Link DVI and a mini-HDMI connector.
Right now I am connected to my projector with a DVI - VGA from my PC.
Please tell me what I need to do to guarantee I am getting the best possible picture.

1920x1080i is a lower scanrate than 1024x768p, its not about the pixels, its about the total scanrate 
The DVI-RGB connector you show it the correct unit for the job, it makes no conversion other than plug type, DVI-I has analog as well as digital connected to it. The other cables you show will do the job.
You will likely need to set up a new signal entry and re-converge it all, but i dont know anything about Zenith.

Everything is hooked up and working fine at the moment.
I set the resolution for the video card (installed in my computer) to 1024x768p. I think the Wii outputs a 480p signal. When I switch between RGB and S-Video on the Zenith 900 i get a good image with both settings.
If I switch the resolution on the video card to 1920x1080 on the video card (I am using Windows 8 as my operating system and Windows Media Center), the screen goes blank until it resets to 1024x768p. NOTE: Whenever you change resolution in Windows it automatically switches back to the previous resolution if you don't click on YES within so many seconds. This is a safeguard so you don't change to a resolution your monitor can't handle and you are stuck there because you can no longer see a picture. It assumes if you don't click YES then your monitor cannot handle the new resolution you selected and go back to the old resolution.
Still now sure what I should be doing? Help! Anyone who might have actual experience with a similar setup as mine. I understand the Runco DTV-852 is the same as the Zenith 900.

S video is 480i max, half the resolution of 480P DVD resolution. If 480I interlaced video and 1024 x 768 progressive video look the same then something is very wrong.

1920 x 1080 from a PC = 1080P,which is well beyond what the Zenith will do.

I was able to send 1080i from PC to a Zenith 900x, it isn't really sharp at that resolution, but definitely can display it, just set the desktop resolution to 1920x1080 and select '30Hz interlaced' as refresh.

What version of Windows are you using? I don't see where I am able to select refresh rate in Windows.

What version of Windows are you using? I don't see where I am able to select refresh rate in Windows. |
I have Win 7. but I think it's the same in win 8 too.
Right click on desktop->screen resolution, then find 'Advanced settings' -> monitor tab

What Dragan said is all correct. The Wii puts out 3 different resolutions, 480i60, 576i50, and 480p60 ( not possible over s-video as Dragan said ). Id be going 576i myself, itll probably look nicer if youre using s-video.
What we probably need to know is what video card type is in there, cause you will be wanting to use the video control panel and not the Windows proprietry one.
