having just been over to see joatmon's cine7 aka runco 940, I noticed his projector had a totally different fan config.

Mine has 2 fans blowing in at the rear of the projector...his has none.

Mine has one fan blowing (out or in, I forget now as I sit here) on the front at a moderate speed and noise level. His has 2 fans blowing at a higher speed.

Which parts are prone or known to fail due to heat on these projectors? Do I need more fans on my power supply area and or could I slow the ones on the rear of my 708??

Why? Its hardly worth the effort is it? It would have to be pretty quiet as it is without slowing down fans.

Didnt you ask this about an 8" projector years ago?

I always ask about fans...

One of the biggest issues with crt for me is fan noise...maybe not you...but, I'm ok, you're ok.

Youre concentrating on the wrong things when youre watching movies. Ignore the fan sounds and they will go away.

Just do what I do run 4-5 big fans to keep everything cool and soon you won't even notice the fans in the projector.

Don't forget to put some resisters in there to slow them down Wink

If you can hear the projector, you're doing it wrong. Turn up the volume, or start watching the movie instead of the screen. Very Happy All in friendly jest.

But back to the fans, the 708 photos on this website match what is in my PJ... A pair of fans in the PS section pushing air into the chassis. I think you mentioned in posts gone by that you have the service manual. What does it say about fan arrangement for your 70x? Bearing in mind possible heatsink and board level variations, maybe you can swap to the arrangement I have. Do you have a laser thermometer? I'd let you come back to take measurements to compare with yours after swapping fans around.
