|
|
Hi guys , i am new to the forum ,i would like to introduce my self, i am Jerome and i am 26 years young. live in holland, flushing. is onw a barco Data 800 beamer, and its great.
I have my barco data 800 now for 5 years , and the tubes are getting worn, so i replaced the tube with new ones from my
spare data 800. But i have one problem.
On the Tube coils are the big white plugs, i know where to put all the other cables , except for the white plug,
the Bleu one is easy becouse it sits freely on its own. but the Red and Green connectors are right above eacht other,
but there are no marking where to place them.
I have a picture to make the problem a little bit clearer.
So the blue plug is in and now i only need to put back the red and the green.
I put question markt a the place where thay belong , if anyone could help me that would be great.
so i can finally begin to setup the beamer again.

If you put them in the wrong position, it will not hurt anything. Your H and V shift may be reversed between the tubes, but then you can swap the plugs. Try it one way and see if it works correctly, and if not, then reverse them. Welcome to the forum!

every sinds i have seen my olde brother his surround set i had to have one, so i started search the net for information.
Yamaha alway had its charm over me , and start on a forum in holland , where there were quite some CRT lovers .
and just looking at the topics made me more hungry for a beamer instead of a big screen TV.
So after a good search i found one in perfect condition , only 1 private owner , before that is hang a Disney studios the seller told me, that is cool information . no sticker or any thing to proof it.
but to come back to the topic , i hooked every thing up and started the beamer , first i got no image , but that was just
me , i forgot to connect the last cable from the controller unit to one of the boards and after that.
image !
I hooked it up to mij digital TV decoder via port 1.
blue and red look fine , but green is a little crooked. !

The yokes , are the magnet coils that go around the tubes right ? , do you mean the fixed position of the magnet compared to the tube its self or do i need to ajust the pole magnets?

Teh yoke that you want to loosen and rotate slightly is the one closest to the front of the tube, where the tube gets larger from the neck of the tube. (we call it the 'bell' of the tube). Loosen the yoke, and rotate it slightly. You can do this with the set on or off, whatever you prefer.

oke i am firts going to check the angle of the image on the tube its self, then turn off the power and let is rest for a least an hour , if i put my hands close to it i can feel the the magnetig energy tingeling in my fingers . best not to take chances
, safty above all.
i hope that i am done before it's movie time !
( i was considering buying a new led tv , but now i have disided to wait , and buy a new laser beamer. the first time i saw that laser pens where avalible in Red , green and bleu the idee for a new beamer instanly came to mind. to bad i don't have a reseach lab and a big vault full of money ! ,

Touch the chassis to discard any charge you have - move the Yoke with 1 hand, you should be fine

Laser projectors are still a bit of a work in progress last I seen was at best 15 lumens(laughable specs compared to our crt beamers)
Led tvs SUCK I know first hand

Finally I have the time to start setting up the beamer again. but while setting up.
but.... I noticed that I had to use a lot of convergence and I still could not get the image right.
i used to be at het side of the screen that in the middle the line would not fit, and now the center.
So i am thinking of setting het whole beamer up from step 1.
Because there are some hardware setting that have to be made.
But when i reset the hardware setting will still count.
how do i know that these settings are back at factory settings. i am still letting the beamer warm up as i am typing.
so the picture comes in a moment .

Looks like a convergence issue(I have had that with my Ecp from time to time)

I don't know if you have that on the Barco, I think it's called Internal Linearity or something, that is is off on the red.
Ok, I have a NEC but the Barco will probably have a similar menu option.
Make sure you don't skip steps in setting it up, and do erase all the old convergence/alignment memories in the machine.
They are of no use anymore with a set of other tubes.
Then make sure you have the mechanical setup right.

Hi,
To me it looks like Vertical Height for red was set incorrectly (too small) and then it was tried to compensate with the convergence controls.
I would suggest the following:
- Either reset the convergence settings completely or bring back the red vertical settings to mid-position.
- Adjust the Vertical Height for red for optimum size (see here: http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco500_Layout4.shtm)
- Adjust the vertical position of red if necessary
- Adjust convergence
You can do that with blue too. The better the basic controls are set the less convergence tweaking You need and the picture will be more stable (less drift)...
Regards,
