Does anyone know if this model number is consistant with a Vidikron 1 ??

38-P11075-95

I haven't even taken it out of the minivan yet but I can't see any markings identifying it. Both the external and internal remote say VIDIKRON on them but I haven't gotten into it enough yet to see if there are any identifiers anywhere else.

I made the three hour round trip because I thought it had the green and red c-elements since it was supposedly a Vision 1 but was surprised to see that it didn't. The tubes are in good shape, though. Light wear on green and great red/blue. I need to open it up to see if it was retubed with LUGs or factory.

Thanks!

Doc

It has the later model plastic side panels at the bottom, so yes, it should be an Ultra, which really is the operative question. Earlier Vision Ones were non Ultras.

Looks like a vision 2 or an 8500AC. No LC chambers, 8 inch tubes.

Yep, he's right, also the IR cutout isn't cut as part of the red lens. It's an 8500 or 8110 at best.

Nooooooo Nashou! Say it ain't so!!! I'll definitely have to open that thing up tonight and have a look then. I hope it's not an 8500!!!!

See what happens. Get comfortable with a great set up by Craig Rounds and you end up taking yourself out of the game only to jump back in to take some lumps.......

Hopefully not!

Pop those tubes in from your friend with the 9500LC if he still has them.

I do think that it is a LC though because I do remember seeing "bubbles" when looking in with a flashlight to check tube condition.

Arrrgh!

So how do I identify what exactly this thing is? Ultra, 8500LC, ????

No, I don't think so. That was one thing that threw me off. I had my son in the car and was not looking as he showed me how to focus the lens but the sound of him rotating the focus was made the hairs on my neck stand up a little. I was in a hurry and I got it cheap enough so I didn't inspect but to me, the sound was of plastic almost and not smooth metal. It was weird. That was an Uh Oh moment for me but I was too far into at that point. I know for sure though that I saw bubbles when looking into the lenses.

Guys

38-P110xxxx, 110khz being the top scan rate so its an 8110. If the hvps is 34.9kv then likely an 8110 Plus.

So I had a little time today and pulled the HD8 lenses to check tube condition..........not bad as you can see. Got into the menus and it is a Vision 3 with 2800 hrs. I also posted pics of the power supply since Tim had mentioned it.

Nice machine.. Looks super clean.. Try look if it has the ULTRA FGM.

It looks nicer than my 1999 8500 Ultra.. well at least all other than the green tube.

I hope it will bring you lots of fun.. for sure is the brightest projector type i have tried.

Guys that machine has been used heavy with windowed 4:3 how do I know as I now have the set(bright as heck)and I went through the menus

I had to refill the blue tubes glycol as it had leaked before mike got it(luckily the set was ceiling mounted)

It is a 8110+ according to the sticker and hvps specs

I dont know if its normal that 8" projectors with HD8 lenses is bright as the marquee, but they for sure shine bright.

Guess its the missing color corection on the green tube helping on the light output.

I did 18fl with a balanced grayscale on my 8500, and lost a bit when masking the tube for 16:9 and gained a lot of ansi contrast.

It don't have the color correction board in the back I checked but will it be needed when I change it to 9inch tubes?
If yes then I will get it when I get the tubes
The lumens rating is 1200 due to the hvps

I am currently putting the set back together as I had to remove the blue tube and put new glycol in it as it had leaked out when the set was ceiling mounted and none of the boards were damaged

I can't wait to enjoy this machine
Also where the green tube has uneven wear it doesn't look like its going to affect the picture but I will have to get it set up to see
