I just had my 800 hour blue tube go bad, so change it with the blue tube from my Vidikron Vision One, and noticed that the C elements looked quite different, , the one from the VV1 is clear, and from my 9553 Ultra is bronze, like a special coating.
Anyone seen that before, and know why there are different coatings.?

I've never seen this before but possibly there was a chemical reaction with the glycol ? 
Does the coating just look different or if you look thru the c element does it look discolored or tinted ?

Is this with the c-element out of the coupling or perhaps you are looking at bad glycol through the element

I dident take it out of the chamber, but its quite clear that its not a glycol thing, its for sure a coating, its very visible in the border of the C element where its not clear/ transparent.
Its also there on the green C element.
My main calibration problem was solved when changing the green PT22 tube, but i have wondered why i ende at around max 10fl, and im sure my old VV1 dident have problem douing 12fl on the same screen.
It can be the C elements, or the HD10E lenses or just something else, ill take the red tube from my VV1 and put my red
C element and do a lense test on this machine and see if thats what makes the difference.

Its not on my 1997 Marquee, and its on the new green VDC tube, and 2003 9553 Ultra
So maybe its made for some special purpose.?... Improved 3D or whatever.?

No it improves or helps to improve contrast ratio by reducing reflection.
Mitsubishi CRT projectors had this coating on their C-elements

Hi,
I have noticed that coating on my c elements too, but I doubt it'll cause a calibration issue - at least here with my setup.

Yeah, thats the main idea of coating lenses and stuff, but Wonder why its not standard, or is on all late Marquee machines ?
Now i just taken a look at my new red C element i have here, and it have the same coating.
I dont know how much effect it will have on contrast, but maybe it should be mentioned what type of Celements when selling, and buying them.
And can this have some effect on the lense debate.. like different coatings reacts different to different rear element shape of the lenses.. Im just wondering!!
I think the older C elements i have is coated to, but maybe with a blue tint to it.. Not sure..
Someone please try look at your different C elements and tell me what you see.

Nice.. What model/ year is your machine.?
I dont think it changes much on calibration to, maybe takes a bit of light.. maybe not.

It's a 9500LC Ultra, upgraded from a non ultra 8500. The chassis is from '97, but I've no idea when the tubes/housings/c-elements were built.

Yep, and so do some Sonys.
The Mitsubishi coating was dichroic.
