I am new to crt projectors and am learning rather quickly. My Dwin looks soo warm and beautiful even at 420p. Took me a good solid day to get there. My living room set is a Panasonic plasma, and I must say it pales in comparison.

For now I am as happy as a clam with the image. Titanic on bluray was stunning. Now I want to push the projector on true hd. When my ps3 is run on 420p my HDfury works as advertised and Dwin powers on. When ps3 is run on anything above that I get the "no video source" prompt.

I tried all sorts of combinations on set up menu when making new source memories. I'm doing something wrong just not sure what since manual is soo vague in that section. I am hoping someone can enlighten me.

I used the search function and didn't pull up anything relevant.

Thanks,
Dan

You most likely need a sync inverter, as my guess is that the PS3 switches to negative sync at other resolutions. I had that happen the other day with a Barco projector that worked fine until I changed resolutions, then the pix disappeared.

You're using the component input on the DWIN? Curt's probably right about the synch... Curt, is it negative sync that's the issue (like on Barco), or is that HD is tri-level sync?

The other issue could be the PS3... Sony was supposed to push out an update last year or year before to comply with the analog sunset, but I think it was only for newer models. I don't recall whether it turned off the video for BD, or downscaled.

Either way, you could eliminate the DRM problem AND the potential sync issues and use an HD Fury 2, which would admittedly be a bit more cost.

Also, once you get it working, be sure to try 1080i and compare to 720p. 1080i is slightly higher bandwidth than 720p, but a slower horizontal sweep rate (520 lines every 1/60th of a sec instead of 720). I always liked 1080i to my Sony 1271.

What version of the PS3 do you have?( old Fat, newer slim with slot load, newest slim with sliding door)

Which version of the HDFury?

How long is the HDMI cable?

Does the light on the HdFury come on at the higher resolutions?

I ended up finding another thread about negative sync issue. This stinks considering I already own the HDfury 1. I may build an inverter based on 7404. I found this easy diagram http://www.twobits.com/RGB/sync.html seem very simple and straightforward. Connect inputs to pin 1, outputs to pin 2. Do I need a single IC or two, that I am unsure on.

I actually have two PS3s in the house. One is one of the new ones, so it may be worth a try connecting that one and see if same issue arises. I doubt it will work but who knows? I have older 80 gig model, big box but after they stripped away backwards compatibility. I also have newer slim model. Cable is short 5' or less. Blue light powers on the HDFury at higher resolution signals.

+1. On this projector I'd definitely be running 1080i instead of 720p.

More resolution, likely more detailed/clear given the slower sweep.

My dwin would take 480p without changing anything. However for any other resolution it had to be changed to negative in nvidia properties.

Kal is right, 1080i out of ps3 if it's an older one. Some games don't work but it's a better Rez. Wish mine still worked, loved that little thing.
