Smaller speakers for rear and side larger speakers for front and center
I have 8inch infinity speakers for front and smaller ones for rear and side channels

Already have larger front and center, just don't know where to put the larger set, side or rear...

I would put the 6inchers in the rear then since the side speakers get used during 5.1 movies(depending on recivier configuration) and use the 8inch set for the side channels
That way you have the bigger speakers in front and beside you with the smaller speakers behind you just keep in mind I am not taking into consideration the wattage of the speakers(that is also a factor)

As long as the tweeter is the same in all it wont really matter a great amount, but i too will say put the 8" at the sides, slightly behind the listening point. ( about 100° or so is where i went. )
