|
|
hi guys,
i going to put a set of p19 lugs
into my 1209s.
some peoples says i must to modify
the necboards
normaly KG grid is connectet to the ground in the 1209s sockets.
but some people says i must tie KG (pin 7) to G1 (pin 5) with
a small wire to get a god focus and reduced noise...
my question:
its realy necessary to make this mod?
someone did that?and if yes that he think about
this mod??
thanke you
manu

On the 1209 you just add a wire.
On 1209s I had to cut round the pin to isolate the pin from ground with a dremmel and then tie the grids tougher. |
Infact if we simply make a jumper from pin 5 (G1) to pin 7 (KH) in 1209s neckboard we will connect G1 to ground!!!
He repeated the warning in his subsequent post

I have no idea if the modify would adversely affect tube life.
I do not know anything about this modify
I just explained the practice what we read in the other forum.

I put P19LUGs in my 1209s and did not do anything to the neckboards. It looks great to me (and others...)

I've removed the my pictures because I noticed that was wrong!
In your picture above (and in my pictures that I've removed) the pin that show "PIN 5" is really pin 9 (filament).

If someone tried to modify his neckboards with these wrong pictures, no worry.
I personally modified my neckboards following wrong pictures, with Lug's tubes, and they works anyway.
With useless filament voltage in pin7 (extra grid in lug's tubes, nothing in others tubes).
Sorry.
