|
|
|
Just picked up a G90 the Green tube is working correctly however the Red is compleatly dark and the Blue is just faintly on checked to make sure the controls were set to the proper gains and the tubes were selected on. There are no fault codes showing. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Try moving the neck board to each of the non functioning tubes and see if they ignite. This will determine if you have tube or board issues.

CHeck the test patterns first. If they work, you may have an input problem. Are you inputting a component signal to the RGB inputs? Your set may be set to RGB in, not component in. That will make the green really bright, and kill the R and B for the most part. Change the settings in the menu.

Loosen the square modules that cover the neck of those tubes and see if the heaters are glowing in the tubes. Also check all wiring going into the square modules. I've had a tube not lighting because the small back coax wire pulled out of the back of the module.

The AKB circuit (auto brightness) could be acting up. Pull off the CRT socket (small board on the back of each tube) off the green tube only. See if the red and blue come back to normal brightness. If not, then pull the blue CRT socket off as well to see if the red tube will work then. Do the test patterns work on all 3 tubes?

Curt I had disconnected the red and green metal neck board boxes yesterday but did not power the projector. After your suggestion I started putting everything back together. however when I was reconnecting the CAR card I could not find the male board connector apparently it came off the board with the female connector as shown in the attached photo It is the 1-671-252-11 connector we are going to try and solder it back on the board Could this be my problem?

If you look at the picture it is the connector with the multi colored wires. we did solder the connector back to the board and fired the projector with all the neck boards attached. Only the green tube fired full brightness. Removed the green neck board blue tube very dim. Removed the blue neck board red tube very dim. any suggestions Thanks

Sorry, no idea at this point. I am out of CRT projectors, and have no parts or test chassis left, sorry!
