Hi every one first id like to say, i stumbled across crt by fluke a few months ago and have been obsessed with it since.... after looking real hard i managed to get my hands on a Cine 7 in the box with manuals and 2500H on it... Crt's looked fine too....So to my problems Smile Be kind guys Smile

First off im doing a basic just getting it going against the wall to see what crt fuss is about as i cant wait to new house to be built with new theater room setup Smile

ok so as a tester i have just plugged my playstation3 (rgb conecter) to the cine and it recognized it as rgb3s good start i think Smile

weird thing is that im only getting a strong green tube picture and hardly anything on the blue and red... menus and internal pattern come up fine for R G B though... (Mind you as a sneak peak im already loving what im seeing these crt things are smooth as!!!!) I played with the co lour settings but got nothing much also G2 was no help as it just put a red or blue tinge over the green pic...

now the more concerning thing is that when i look into the lens im getting a weird bright line across the bottom of the crt (all colors) and looks like its happening way below the proper raster area gives some lines at the top of the pic that i can get rid of using blanking but im scared of potentially damaging it as crt's are scarce here in Sydney Australia...

Last thing is that when i remove the cover then flip up the top board (ie to access the scan direction plugs ect) with the tubes facing away from me.... on the right hand side there are some cables that come through the chasis that looks like are meant to connect to a card but its missing??? seems to work with out it i think its for the optional doubler but im unsure at this stage i'll attach some pics

Ohh and last thing i noticed was (pic included too) on the blue and red tubes it looks like there is a earth that is zip tied to the (i think it called the neck...long silver part behind the tube) and green does not have one is this correct???

All help will be greatly appreciated!!!!! And promised to keep my fingers out of it till i et some responses!!!!

Was going to run everything through my harmon cardon amp and really only going to use the ps3 on it for movies (not a gamer) using scaler in the amp to 1080i (has fadjulia chip "i think that how its pronounced).....

PS3 doesn't output rgb, it's component video. That look green in rgb input.
You should try input 5 (press 5 from remote) or input 6 (tri-level sync) with component video.

I guess that those neck boards grounding cables should be connected to tubes bell grounding comb, like in other Barcos.
Connect those before using projector, those prevent static HV build up to tubes or something.

Check these out for starters...

Thankyou already a massive help!!! Looks like the doubler is missing ( don't mind I'm more into 576 and up plus my Harmon amp has some tricks for that)

The ps3 error was a real Noob fault Smile oops but I'm learning I always had it using hdmi to my plasma , one thing is I had tried other input numbers on the remote last night and got nothing? Ill try again Hmm I'll look into that more.....

Any input on those lines kinda freaked out over them I'd hate to break this thing after trying to get one for so long!

Ohhhh Oops... The ps3 has a rgb option in the display settings should I maybe try that instead to get things going while I gear up?.. I'll need to read more. LoL believe me I've read and read and read on crts my head is going to explode but not giving up.... And thanks once again ....Im a bit of a guru on some car forums and I know what it's like answering these questions over and over.... Problem is I've read a lot of this stuff but doesn't sink in till I need to apply It and sometimes can't put the 2 together

Leave the component output connected, as the Cine 7 has a built in transcoder to convert the component input to RGB. You'll find that by selecting inputs 5 or 6 on the projector.

That missing board is indeed a scaler or line doubler, and will work with PAL or NTSC signals. I've actually got a spare if you want one. It does a decent job upscaling.

Ok so input 5/6 worked I played ans played panicked a bit as I pushed the raster to big by accident then took a few minutes to correct it.... Got the hang of the settings and convancing and cracked out some 1080i that I felt I could grab wow how smooth no where near what it can do by a long shot but wow!!!!! Curt pm about the board please with a price shipped to 2148 Pc Australia ohh need a plastic hinge piece that you warn break easy and to remove with the screws....... ( found that after I broke one Sad but still smiling so freakn excited btw it's 3 am here that's how keen I was to get it going!!!!! Thought the scaler might be wasted on my machine though as my Harmon kardon amp scales using fadjulia chipset so should I bothe with one?

the line doubler turns 480i into 480P, (or 576i into 480P?) IT doesn't scale any other resolutions. Line doublers were popular back in the 1980's Surprised , before progressive scan DVD came out

I don't know, but the scalers accept interlaced inputs (not sure if they accept 480p component as well), and upscale at various resolutions up to 1080p. That's what I have is the scaler verision

This is a far superior picture than my first rodeo with CRT Projectors! Not bad. If you stick with it, listen to the advice you are given, and dont electrocute yourself at the same time, you'll do fine Thumbs Up

It can do 1080p, but I have a feeling that 720p will look better. Try it and see. No mods to be done on these sets.
