What does splitting the pre amp out affect ? If I want to run two subs but I only have one pre amp out and I use a Y splitter what more do I need to consider ?

I run a "Y" splitter with one side going to my sub the other to an amp that is connected to my butt kickers mounted on the risers. Seems to work just fine.

What "exactly" are butt kickers ? I hear about them all the time but am not sure what they are. Are they like the "shaker systems" they put in cars ?

You may need to compensate by turning the gain up on both subs slightly, but that will work just fine. That's exactly what most people with two subs do.

Google it. It's a low-frequency transducer... Basically, a voice coil that converts electro-motive force to kinetic energy (movement) that's connected to a chair instead of driving a cone to move air. Attach it to a chair and "feel" the LFE instead of shaking the room/walls/house. Great for multi-family dwellings or unsympathetic spouses.

OK Thanks ! Now, I have 2 centers and was thinking about running them both(stacked) could I run one off the Integra and run another off an amp being driven by the pre amp out ?
OH BTW Steve, I really love the Integra AVR ! A lot of bang for the buck, easy to use and set up. Thank you for the heads up.

You could certainly technically do that, but you'll likely create more problems than you'll solve. You'll have a "bigger", but less accurate sound. Time delay, phase shift... Try it; I doubt you'll like the net result.

Yes, ButtKicker is one brand - the big one - but, there are a couple of others in the "low-frequency transducer" category. Check out Amazon or Parts Express.

Mine are not actually Butt Kicker brand they are the cheapo's from Parts Express. They do a nice job for what they cost. They fool a lot of folks into thinking you got a big sub. You have to turn them off to really hear...I should say feel the difference. A few years ago around this time of year they had them for $35/each with free shipping, I bought 4 of them. Curt recommended that 2 of them be wired in series and that's exactly what I did.

I've had the Auras under my car seats now for 10 years. WOrk fine, I even had to cut a bunch of the heat sinks off to get them to fit, and they work fine. Super deal at the price.
The only caveat is that a lot of amps don't like the load they put on the amp channel, so in the car I had to series two of them for 16 ohms so that the amp wouldn't go thermal and shut down. I'd recommend the same at home. THey are super efficient, so 40 watts per transducer is more than enough.

I just purchased the BK-4 Kit (Buttkicker Advance transducer, sofa/mounting plate, USB wireless adapter & RF transmitter, and BKA300-4 amp) from Buttkickergear.com on 12/26/2012 (it was a C-note less than normal price 'til 12/31)!
And I am truly impressed in how much it augments/complements my existing subs (2 SPLr 800s and an older SPL 1200 + SMS-1 Bass Eq module). My L+R front and L+R rears are "biamped"; in the sense that they are defined as LARGE to my processor, but the powered subs remove below 80Hz info and pass the rest on to the power amps associated with the respective pairs of channels.
If you haven't already tried a bass shaker from any company, I encourage you to try one out!
I've actually ordered 2day a 2nd kit, because for the "oomph" factor I desire, I get a teeny tiny rattle on a peak when watching a scene from "Live Free Die Hard"; but you have to be 8 inches away from the shaker to even detect the piston on the inside of the device over-extending.
So I'll daisy chain the amps associated with the shakers (amps for sharing the same input signal, and IR codes) and lower the amp levels on BOTH to get the same, safer results.
And as others have already indicated, splitting off the preamp/SUB out works fine; the Buttkicker kit actually comes with a Y-cable for such. I'm splitting my SUB OUT from a Pioneer VSX 1018H AVR....which contains only LFE and the Center Channel's below 80Hz output 1 of the SPLr 800s handles this).
It's a FANTASTIC upgrade IMO; don't think I want to be without the more palpable infrasonic frequencies impacting my being from now on. I wonder why I waited so late to try these.

I've had an Aura for years. What I most remember is watching a concert DVD with my sub off. I was really into it and I stood up to get something and the bass totally disappeared. Great for late night watching.
