I watched this last night and really enjoyed the color and detail. I remember when the third movie had come out how nice it looked and wondered why the first film did not, but then I wondered if it were the sources for which I had repeatedly watched RotLA and that was mostly crappy OTA NTSC and DirecTV downgraded SDTV.
I was glad I waited before buying the boxed set because I got it for around $60, and now after seeing the first film I am really pleased. If for nothing else, try it and enjoy what commercial TV, DirecTV and DVD couldn't do in presentation.
BTW, I had a little trouble with some of the movie's storyline. Indy was willing to use an RPG (did they exist during this time?) and blow up the Ark, all in the name of a girl--a pretty hot one at that! And yet, his rival was willing to let him instead of giving up ... 'a girl'? I guess pussy was hard to come by back then.
And speaking of pussy, Karen Allen was hot as sh*t back in 1981. Damn girl!
