I was reading posts on active area scanning and decided to try 800p. When I saved the setting and the Lumagen restarted there was no image at all no matter what I tried. I had to reset to factory default to get things going. Now both the projector and Lumagen should be able to display that resolution and in fact when I dialed that in everything was operating with the new resolution but after pressing "save" it all went south.

My projector is basically a Barco graphics 808s with 9 inch Sony tubes and the scaler is a Lumagen Vision PRO HDP. Both the Lumagen and the projector are capable of much more and I have set them at much higher resolutions without any problem. In between the Lumagen and the source is a Moome Mux HD.

I have not yet determined if it was the PJ or Lumagen or Mux HD that had a fit.

You know I have seen the Moome stuff not like some custom resolutions. I was using the internal IFB Moome cards though in a PC1271 switcher.

I suppose its possible that its the Moome device but I am not sure as I kept getting "source device not available" on the PJ when selecting the port it should be connected to which would suggest the Lumagen as the culprit. The MUX-HD is between the BD player and the Lumagen.

Hmm, can you try another output from the lumagen like an s-video if your PJ can accept it?

Have you simply tried again? You may have hit a glitch that won't happen on a second try.

I have Port 3 also connected to another Lumagen output so I switched to port 3 to get an image but right now I cannot recall if a reset the Lumagen before re-installing the port3 board and switching to it. All I would get on port 5 was "source not available".

Sure i will try again but I must say I was concerned that I might not get the system back on line. As I have done in many other tests I simply changed the output resolution to 800p all other parameters are automatically set by the Lumagen and I did not alter any of those and it did seem to work it was only after I saved the change that the problem appeared. You probably already know that when you save the settings the Lumagen powers off so after powering on again there was no image at all and the projector would briefly display "source not available".

The Lumagen should not be shutting down upon saving. You most likely have a bad power brick for your Lumagen.

You can restore your Lumagen to factory default settings without a GUI. Enter service mode by pressing "menu-0-9-1-0" and then press "menu-0-9-9-9." Make sure the green LED blinks on each button push. When the Lumagen comes back online you must save to retain the factory reset.

You may also have a corrupt firmware. You can try reinstalling the firmware with the Lumagen powered on. If the firmware does not take, you can do a "force" firmware update.

Unplug the Lumagen from power. Get the firmware software setup and ready to go. Put the tick in "forced" update. Plug in the Lumagen and within 10 seconds execute the forced update. With a forced update you must make absolutely certain that you have the correct firmware for your model.
