Guys

Just installed three NOS Panasonic tubes in a 9500 Ultra; the high voltage crashes and comes back into focus every 3-4 seconds. Unplugging anodes one at a time isolated the problem to the blue tube. Could this be fixable by tapping on the gun? Problem was worse with higher contrast. I have only seen this twice in twelve years.

No, but a different tube works with the original neckboard.

Guys

These are LCP09s. All connections are tight. This projector is crated to ship out this morning so it will be a few days before I have another chassis on the bench to test with. I want to take the focus and flare yokes off for a better look.

My guess is an intermittent H-K short or some similar contamination within the tube neck. Super rare, but possible. I would try a different neck board for S and G first though.

This is really weird.....

I pulled out this tube again, I wanted a better look at the arcing problem, so I pull off the flare and focus yokes so I can look into the gun. I fire it up and........it doesn't arc now!. I am wondering if the yokes were damaged somehow and induced the arcing.
