This is one of my favorite movies from the 80's. I've seen it many times. I like the main characters and actors (William Hurt, Blair Brown and Bob Balaban), and of course the story. Ken Russell's direction is nice, but in reviewing his other work I was not terribly impressed enough to buy.
Before watching the BD I had a chance to see Altered States in HD on either MGM HD or HDnet Movies.While I enjoyed watching it there, it cannot compare to seeing it on the large screen, and the quality of the BD was very pleasing. I'm not going to go further into this film, or the BD, but I will recommend this as a buy--especially if you can get a deal.
I bought this at the same time that I bought Outland and Brainstorm, but I have not watched them yet in the theater.
