Can anyone enlighten me as to what is a "SLOT"? When I am adding a new INPIT SIGNAL I am asked to choose a "SLOT". I have always selected SLOT 1. I do have trouble with my projector jumping to another INPUT (usually not the one I want) when there may be a sync change.
Thanks

Those are MEMORY slots.

If you're starting from scratch, I'd delete all memory slots and locations via the menu, and do a signal entry for every resolution youre' using. I believe that the extra Runco PC boards are the 'slots' that they are referring to. Runco put in extra memory due to the varying aspect ratios back in the day, when most viewing was still 4:3, but Sam Runco was trying to convert people to 16:9. NOwadays, 4:3 is more or less gone, and everyone is using one aspect ratio, so you don' t need the extra memory slots.

What you could do with those is stick with the same basic NEC stock memory location, then use the Runcos to switch aspect ratios.

From my experience in dealling with Runco's 933, some parts from NEC do not always "meld" well. Runco's custom mods are not always known on each unit and it is hard to tell if their modded parts will work with barco or nec.

Curt Palme's comments is helpful but still leaves some confusion as to what to do when setting up a new SYNC SIGNAL.

The menu shows a list of numbers in the left most column and they represent each of the different signals that have been added. Does it matter the order of these? If so would it be prudent to save the most used sync signal in the #1 line and continue down the list to the least expected syns signal? Maybe this would cut down on the projector jumping so much to find the right sync signal stored.

The next column on the menu identifies what is now the memory slot assigned for the sync signal during setup. Is there any reason each different sync signal be assigned to different slots? If it does not make any difference then I guess assigning all the sync signals to the same slot would not make any performance difference.

What is the advantage of different slots, at least to me?

Comments please!!!!

Yep, all the time, more than half the hours that go on my XG are from playing retro game consoles.

I do. Any time i can fit it in. Back when i was 13, i remember me and a good friend of mine always thought it would be great to have almost all the games to pick whatever we wanted on any console, big suround sound, and a screen as big as the wall... Didnt actually think back then that we would achieve it though!! Wink

Riley your easiest path of least resistance is to pick up a cheap video processor, people are selling used ones for next to nothing like this guys in Colorado.

send all your sources through the processor and it will convert everything to one signal, 720P is a good one for the NEC's. That way the PJ will not be constantly hunting for the correct channel / memory as you flip channels on your cable box.
