In anticipation of the new Ridley Scott movie Prometheus, I bought the boxed Anthology set of BR disks. At $30, the 4 movie set is a bargain. These movies have lots of dark, shadowy, low light scenes and really demonstrate the benefits of a well calibrated CRT pj. The BR's are stunning in themselves and I was able to see far more than I ever could in the DVD versions. The CRT screens and green digital typeset on the Nostromo made me laugh though. That technology was superceeded 2 decades ago. Can't wait to see this new movie on IMAX in 3D.

Guess I ordered at the right time as that set was $10 cheaper last week. I also pre-order Prometheus on Amazon and was one of the 5000 to get $10 off the admission price (valid for IMAX luckily).

Haydn-

You were/are thinking the same thing I am:-) Might go see the midnight showing tonight as I'm looking forward to this more than any other film this summer. When this comes out on BD (figure September) it will be an absolute must have.

After a color/greyscale calibration this weekend, I'm going to watch Aliens.

I've done the late night showing in the past and didn't really enjoy the experience probably because I was too tired. Prometheus is described as a bit of roller coaster ride with incredible special effects. I want all my faculties fully functional to keep up.
I'll probably go to the first show on Sunday morning when the movie theaters here in the Bible Belt are deserted.
