Hi,

Every analog CRT PJ (although digitally controlled) will have some inevitable drift in either geometry, convergence and maybe other parameters too. This drift is due to thermal effects. So if the PJ's settings had been adjusted after warm up (recommended procedure) You often will find that at least the convergence settings won't be optimal during the first minutes after cold start up. On a good machine overall drift should be low and should end up in the settings stored previously.
So it makes sense letting the PJ warm up before watching a movie if You're a very critical viewer. For day to day operations (especially with lower resolutions) it might be possible that You won't see too much difference.
It definately isn't needed for the PJ's reliability. Remember: Each 20 minutes added to a viewing session will be 20 minutes less tube life...

Hi barclay66

WOW WOW WOW
now you made me happy

I'm using Barco 1209G with 1920*1080 Rez
if i understand right. The warm up session is only to get better pic and not in order to prolong tube or other life time of the PJ?

Yes.
When installing the Barco You should perform all kinds of needed adjustments (especially convergence) after a sufficient warm up time (20 minutes are quite ok).
By this everything will be on spot a few minutes after cold start up and You will enjoy the best picture.
