I have a factory sony mounting bracket, I like it and I want to use it.
One problem though, once you install it you are done. There is no adjustment forward and back or side to side, only tilt angle. So setting the distance has to be right the first time, I would like to keep my 16 9 110 inch screen. I could go bigger
the screen is masked. Bare it is 11 foot wide and 7 and a half feet tall.
So tell me what size you recommend and what the throw distance would be (if you know).
I want a good 1080P picture. I would like to hear your opinions.
Thanks in advance

Put the PJ on a cart with wheels. Maximize your raster and adjust the position of the PJ until the screen is filled. The PJ goes directly above that spot.

Easy.

Even with the factory mount, I would still attach that to Uni-Strut. That will give you the best possible tweaking (sideways and forward/backwards).

For me, it was really tuff to figure out the best mounting spot on the floor and then transferring that to the ceiling. It did help me get very close.

I have a very difficult situation as where my screen is hanging from the ceiling with chain. My back wall (where the screen is) is uneven; it is actually a real stone wall. So, the uni-sturt was very helpful, even with the mount.

Also, I am referring to my 6PG XTRA. The G90 is up with uni-strut only.

I'd stay with the 96x54/110 diag, Jeff. One of the G90 guys here probably has a screen exactly that size and can even tell you the throw. I'm totally guessing, but I'll guess a foot or two longer than your current machine.

Heck, my screen is 80x45/92 diagonal. Shocked I think mine is something like 112"-113" from center screen to center green tube.

Also, having the uni-strut made it possible to tilt the projector down a little in the back helping with the keystone.

How strong are you and how far do you reckon you could throw without risking injury??

Why dont you take this very good advice and mount that bracket on some unistrut rail so you CAN move it if need be? Thumbs Up

Jeff -

you might consider the x-channel type T-slotted aluminum. To my thinking it is a better product for a number of reasons. Here is info from 8020. You can buy it from mcmaster carr as well. Or, there are companies that will cut and ship designs built to your drawings for very little. I've attached a frame made from 2" slot (you'd only need 1") that the Ralph A Hiller company quoted about $250 for everything except shipping.

I have an issue with some duct work in the way, It would be easy to go backward but impossible to move forward (from the current position of my G70) because of the ductwork. A rough guess on the distance would be a big help as I have to move a lot of stuff just to get the G90 in that general area and then I cant use the g70 at all because there would be no where to sit. I would like to get some measurements in so I have a rough idea what I am looking at before I tear it all apart. Any help would be appreciated, Again I would like to keep my 110" digonal screen unless there is some good reason to go bigger or smaller.
THANKS.

Jeff, try page 154 of the manual. Just remember the throw calculators are for 4x3 screens. The formula to figure the throw is in there too, but there is no real world way to just "do the math" and it will be right. Cmjohson's method is the one that I, and nearly everyone else uses to do the set first set up.

You know the old saying about making an omelette . Wink

Taking a guess I'd say it's about 115"-120" to the front of the lens, that's what it is on my 9500 when my screen size is around 108" diagonal. They're both 9" machines, I would assume the throw would be fairly similar.

If I could get a reasonable guess within 6 inches that would be great.
I kinda ignored the manual because I plan on a 16 9 screen.
