Marquee Ultra Experts,

New room forces pj location at ~14 feet from where the screen will have to go. That's going to be one big image. This is relatively short term, 9 months or so, while I house shop. Can I throw up some 1.3 gain material and have something decent looking without driving the tubes hard? Looking to do something economical.

Thanks,

Steve

If you have lugs 120" diagonal is too dim. If they are LCP the image is about 9 FT Lamberts on a Wilsonart 1.3 gain screen. I don't know what the lugs Ft lamberts are I haven't measured it yet but it is substantially dimmer. So much so that I shrank the image down to 106" diagonal just to compensate by eye.

I did a 11' screen with a Barco G808, without over-driving the tubes.
It'll be a dimmer picture, ...but I agree - just do it.

I used a 150 for a runco 933. Looked great! Enjoy! FYI.....your picture of Joseph Smith and the CRT is creative. However my wife saw it and was offended. Razz

Really? Most Mormons seem to find it funny. I was born in Provo, baptized and am still on the books. Have lineage up through the Benson family. I think I am more than qualified and entitled to poke fun at Mormons.

The resident idiot here also has a fantasy that I'm actually Steve Benson, a grandson of Ezra Taft Benson.

Indeed, your need to chase down my recent posts is rather sad. As if you actually read posts in the CRT Projectors forum or post anything ever that actually has anything to do with this hobby.

What church do you go to again?

I am running a Runco 1100/Barco 1209s with P19s and it looks great at 49% contrast (factory default midpoint) on a 114" diag 1.3 Studiotek. Looks great to me.

Right on. Kind of what I assumed...

Its all good man...I was born in Provo and live currently in Provo. I am active and find your pic funny. No harm bro. And yes I am sure you are not "that" Steve Benson. I am related to Mitt Romney. My grandmother was a Romney in the old Mexican colonies. Who is the resident idiot?

Ill whole heartedly back that. I have a 120 inch 5:4 screen ( painted on the wall with adjustable blanks ) and with a 9PG plain i found it quite fine, and with an XG with a cooked green its also quite fine. A 9 inch should have no worries lighting up a 120 inch diagonal.
