|
|
Hi people, ive done abit of work to my screen during the week so i can use different aspect ratios without the big white borders.
Job is almost finished, still abit rought yet, but ive got a few pics with a few more to come soon.
I can now have any aspect from 2.35:1 to 5:4, with steps for 1.85:1 and 1.78:1 in place, and will later contemplate some small blanks for cutting down to 4:3 as well, but i usually play all my 4:3 content stretched to 5:4 ( retro video games ).
Here is a shot i took while i was working on it, still abit to do to tidy it all up ( my home is still incomplete, but ill get around to it one day )
And a shot with a picture, taken with the lights on:

Did you document in another thread the construction of the masking system?

So what did you use to adjust the velvet position?

Some heavy duty blind cord, and i put a couple cleats on the wall out of site, then the rail in the bottom of the material rests on a couple brackets i mounted on the wall so it is exact height every time.
The bottom one i just put the bar straight on the brackets, and move it to the upper or lower brackets to suit.
If i go 5:4, i just pull the top one right up, and the bottom one is removed. Once the lights are out, the brackets cant be seen, although they will get a coat of paint to be the same colour as my wall when i get around to it.

I watched a 2.4:1 movie on it last night and there is slight little borders, but can almost not even see them from the lounge anyway. Screen is about 96 inch diagonal in the 2.35:1 setting.
