Actually for a Runco DTV991, but its got a 110 volt power supply, is there a way i can modify this to allow me to connect it to the 230 volt Australian mains supply?

Have you checked to see if there is a switch on the PS that allows you to toggle between the 2 power settings. Prob need to change the fuse too.

I havent got the projector here yet, but if there was a switch, i dont think the previous owner wouldve bought a step down tranny to use it.
Ive never heard of there being a switch though, but speculation is pointless.

Probably it can be converted, as all previous NECs had a jumper IN the powersuply which controlled the mains voltage range. Probably worth a look. Or we would need the schematics of the LVPS...

Yeah would be awesome if someone can actually open one up and have a look, id love to be able to just plug it into 230 volt instead of stepping down.

far as im aware, totally different power supply. terry chuchuf used to have a 230v supply...

I wont buy another supply, if it cant be converted ill just use a step down.

That step down transformer should be pretty enormous, if you get it please share a pic from it

The primary sections of the 110v vs. 220v supplies are completely different. No switch, no jumpers. And the differences between them in the xx0 version is completely different in design. In the xx1 versions the design is similar but still greatly different in components.

Thanks Macgyver, this is the kind of straight forward close the book answer i was looking for
Ive got the 2 kVA step down tranny on order anyway, so we'll be laughin when that turns up. Got abit of work to do before i fire it up anyway, will likely have to bleed the tubes and give it all a good internal clean ( although from the pics it looks to be very clean allready )

the 110v XG powersupply can be converted to 240v
mine has and has been running like this for 4-5 years. Before that I ran it off a 1KVA stepdown (i still have it, great doorstop)
Mark_A_W helped me with my conversion. I'm not sure if he still frequents these boards, but i have no recollection that far back anymore.
for reference mine was a XG-750 chassis. I believe the overriding principle for the change carried through to the xx1 chassis' though.

Yeah i thought he did, but it doesnt really matter at this point, i have a 2kVA 230 volt to 110 volt step down trans that i use for it.
I dont know if i really want to go to the trouble of pulling the power supply out of it to convert it to 230 volts now.
