I took the opportunity while having my projector off the ceiling to do some upgrades to bleed the tubes on my Marquee 8500.
When I removed the screw, the coolant literally sprayed out.
It looks like I did this just in time.
Don't be lazy....bleed your tubes.
Chris.

you probably could. Most at that place are still wearing shorts with white socks and sandals.
Even though we got 4" of freezing rain on Friday and this mornign it was as cold as a witches titty.
In case you don't know, Chris and I work at the same co. in the same office complex but have still not even met each other.

I'd love to see your projector in operation Kal, I have never seen an LC projector.

I've never yet heard of the front glass on a 180DMB or DVB breaking. The seal
that keeps the coolant in place is extremely thick and water adsorption through it is virtually zero.

The coolant in the chamber picks up moisture from the air over time and expands in volume

Cool, I'd like to put that particualar worry out of my head but....
If thats the case, then why would Chris's tube spray like that?
I saw pics somewhere of the front glass broken. Not sure what type of tube it was.

Maybe the glass on my tubes would have been fine for a long time but it only took about 20 minutes to drain them while I had my projector pulled apart for some other mods. Well worth my time.

Do I have to remove the deflection coil, the focus coil, and astig magnets like the movie shows?

No you don't have to remove the magnetics.

As long as you can access the screw on the side of the tube to drain the glycol, everying else can stay on the tube. All the magnets and coils can remain on the tube the only thing you will have to remove is the neck card.
But be careful not to get glycol on any of the magnets or coils as I believe it can cause damage.

Am I correct in assuming that if you don't move any of the magnetics, the only thing you'll have to do is the grayscale adjustment and the digital convergence, after you put the tube back in?
