Hey guys
Been working through the two channel rig for a while, this is currently where it stands.

The cambridge audio cd player HAS to go - it is just junk.

Pre is an Accuphase, as are the power amps. TT is a Michell reference hydraulic, SME 3009 SII improved, cart is Ortofon Kontrapunkt A. Cables are custom made/braided.

Speakers are JansZen Z-30 and Z-40 electrostatics.

Sound is divine.

As a Danish furniture aficionado, I'm more attracted to that gorgeous credenza buffet than I am the vintage audio gear, but very nice! I like your choice of music, too! Thumbs Up

the credenza was custom made for us by a local.
shelves are designed specifically for vinyl storage, and the drawers are designed for cd storage.

I have never seen those speakers before. Are they not sold here in the US?

If I remember correctly, when Ed Vilcher (sp) came out with his model AR-1 in the late 1950's, Jantzen made an electrostatic mid/tweeter to go with it, and it was very popular. Jantzen also made their own system with a cone type woofer and also made the electrostatic elements used in the infamous KLH-9's. I assumed Jantzen got out of the speaker business in the early 1970's, but I guess I'm wrong.

No thanks - It is only good for 7" reels and only 7-1/2ips. I need 10-1/2" and 15ips.

Thanks,
Bob

not for you, for me!!! i never owned a RTr and looking to get into it inexpensively . 115 seems like a decent price and it is Surround sound so it go with my quad set up I am looking to build, plus no shipping charges.

there is also a GX 220D( I think thats it) for 300 it looks almost new with original box and warranty card and all packaging.

Gotcha!
They used to sell 4 channel pre-recorded tapes many years ago - Maybe you can find some on e-bay?

nettwerkjohn,

Your credenza and your turntable are absolutely fascinating to me. I love the cabinet, it looks very modern for wooden furniture. Your turntable caught my eye though, what are those brass looking things on top of the platter?

Very neat design! And I like the room itself too Smile

Those I assume are brass as its the best vibration dampening metal out there i hear. The record sits on top of them. they have rubber points. The less vibration to the record the lower the sound floor. I heard a table just like Johns at a local
Higgle end store . The entire analog front end was over 100k the speakers were B&W 803's or 5's. I forgot but the sound was the best I have heard. He did an AB with a Mark Levinson CD trasport/ Dac of the same music, Ella Fitzgerald. I had my eyes bling folded and he switched between the two. I preferred the LP set up over the CD. Both were Mobil Fidelity issued version of the music.

Funny thing is, that's a contemporary design, but based directly on mid-century modern Danish designs from the 1950's and 60's!!!

It doesn't look like it, but this piece is from the early 60s:

OK, sorry for the detour - back to vintage audio gear.

What's "old" is "new"!

Was talking to an owner of a local store called "The modern shop" the other day and I commented on that everything in their store looked like it was from the 50's. The term 'modern' furniture is ironic.

The new furniture we bought recently for the family room reminds me of my grandma's house!
