Hello,
My BG1209s is suffering from intermittent scan fail issues (red LED burning on the G2 board).
Some background:
- about 2 months ago I suffered from HV arcing. It was eventually tracked down to a bad HV lead on the green tube. In the process I replaced both the quad and the HV splitter.
- I ordered two new HV leads from Curt and replaced the leads on the red and green tube. The blue already had a new lead, due to similar issues about a year earlier.
- Yesterday I fitted the red and green tubes back in.
- The HV would not come up and the red LED was on.
Today I did exactly two things:
1) I reconnected the connectors leading to the convergence coils on the red and green tube (the 4 pin connectors with red, purple, orange and black, from the top of my head)
2) I fiddled with the vertical scan direction selector switch. Mine is a bit dodgy (spring is missing).
After that the set worked without problems!
Tonight I continued working on it. I put the original quad and HV splitter back in. I also put some glue in the dodgy switch. The set was still working normally after that...
I then proceeded to put all the metal work back on (esp. the frame holding the tubes). I also put the deflection switching board back on the lid (it was sitting on top of the tubes).
In short: I did not do anything electrically! Now the set is dead again.
It does sound like a bad connection somewhere. I already checked the scan coils.
What else could I look at?
Cheers,
Gerbrand
