Picked this TV up at the Salvation Army for $50, couldn't say no once I got the guy down from the $130 pricetag. Got it for a deal because the convergence is messed up. Its mainly on the green tube as seen in the photos below, but all 3 need some work...

My question is, is this something that just needs adjustment, or a part that went bad? Any advice is welcome! Its a great TV otherwise!

I have ordered the convergence repair kit for it, it seems the STK chips fail on this set, and it is quite common. The kit came from tvrepairkits.com and it should be here tomorrow. I cannot wait to get this TV fixed, I have the service manual and have already studied it so I know what I am doing in service mode.

Great find for $50! TV brightened right up after cleaning the mirror , lenses, and tube faces. 7" LC Tubez 1080i 720p, only thing its missing is an HDMI port and a built in ATSC tuner Razz

Mac, I agree it was a bit pricey (given that I could have bought the same set of parts for a mere $30). However, since I got the TV for next to nothing, and the fact its a HD capable display, made the spend worth it.

Also I DID get the TV fixed! It looks amazing. I went through the service menu after I repaired it to tweak the convergence and a few other settings, and the TV looks like new. The previous owners wouldn't have gotten rid of it if they saw the way it looks now, most likely anyway! Very Happy

I will post some pics, I have a bunch of pics to take for curt and some other people so I should get to that eventually Wink

Good to hear you got it running well. I still like the CRT RPTV best.

Okay, after a long awaited time, here are the pics of the TV after I did the fix. I apologize the quality is so bad, my camera is junk and I cannot pause the TV on the samsung HD Box I have.

Also sorry for the 2 gross pics, they were taken on PBS... lol
