I also just watched The King's Speech. The wife and I laughed throughout this movie. Not so much laughing at the King's condition, but the nature of when he doesn't express said condition. I was surprised by the chosen aspect ratio, and I concluded that its choice was one in which a more intimate than cinematical approach was desired.
The sets were interesting and probably lent themselves to an accurate rendition of the period (1930's) and social-economic status. Colin Firth did an excellent job as Berte and Geoffrey Rush, as always, was entertaining in his role as Berte's therapist.
I never really considered the advent of radio as so socially-changing for those of social status within the public eye, but I can now see how the days of being 'seen' had dramatically changed to also being 'heard'.
Maybe not a film for purchase, but certainly one for renting.
