OK, here's one for ya.
I am doing a service call on a large component distributed HD video system, the pub has about 20 TVs, run by two component matrix switchers. It's sort of an OK installation, but cheesy, in that the AV switchers are fed by Ying the component output of each HD box with a Y cord to each switcher. Cheezy! The rack wiring sucks to boot. They ran out of space, so I have boxes hanging by the cables off the back of the rack.
Anyways, the problem is with the VGA computer output of their dedicated Dell box, that runs their in-house video advertising. As per another post, this customer has 22 ice arenas, and each one has one of these dedicated computers. It's a late model Dell, and has a video card that has DVI, HDMI and VGA outputs.
When I got there, I found that they had some no name brand Chinese box that converted the HDMI output to component, which fed the switcher. "No signal' was displayed on the Samsung TVs. I went home, and brought back a VGA to component Crescendo systems box, and VOILA! got a picture.
THe problem is, the image is shifted to the left by about an inch. The pix may also overshoot the screen even if centered, I'm not quite sure yet.
THe pub manager told me that at one point the HDMI to component box did work, but also had that H shifting problem. Another issue that i can't get around is, the Sansung LCD TVs will only deal with limited resolutions via the component input. Most of the resolutions available via the computer video drivers won't sync with the Samsungs, and I get an 'incompatible signal' message. Because their stupid computer auto boots to their advertising website, I can only access the control panel for a short period of time, then I need to reboot to change the resolution again. Right now it's set for 1024 X768, and I have an image.
What options do I have to center the image? I would assume an Extron 202xi would work, VGA in to VGA out.
I could also get an Audio Authority VGA in to component out box that has some H shifting and size controls on it.
Any other ideas?

Can you set the PC to 720p? the 202xi moved the picture over around 40% IIRC in my testing.
You could also try a Box1020 and use the IAC circuit.

I think I have a Box 1020 here, I need to check. Yes, I tried several resolutions, all with the same H shift. On a regular computer monitor using the VGA passthrough on the Crescendo box, the pix was fine, go figure.

Some PC's video software have image shifting adjustments. Or running powerstrip. Or maybe horz shift in LCD's menu. Or try 1280X1024 if available.
