This stuff sounds promising for the price, but I thought I would ask the experts.. So, what do you think? I've been reading about the blackout material, and this seems easier than painting to raise the gain, since this claims to be 1.3 already. Should I spend my money on something else? Thanks in advance..

He claims it is "rubberized" matte white material. There is no way it is 1.3 gain. In fact, odds are good it is less than 1.0 gain.

I'd think the Wislonart designer white is better than this. a bit more expensive, but still under $100.

I got a piece of that material for x-mas. My screen size is 74" by 98" and for my eye it looks much better than my old DA-lite pull down. Keep in mind however that the Da-lite was a cheap POS. One word of caution; dust, dirt and newsprint stick to the rubberized coating very well and the material isn't the easiest the clean.

If anyone has an Idea for cleaning the material I'm open to suggestions.

And yes the material is shipped folded but the wrinkles disappear quickly less than 2 days

FYI, the material sold on ebay as "rubberized canvas" is typically just blackout cloth (BOC as it's sometimes referred to. It's the material sometimes sewn on the backside of window coverings, (drapes, curtains, etc.). You should be able to find it at a fabric store like JoAnn for less than 1/2 the ebay seller's prices.

I paid something like $30 for a piece to build my screen and my old man went to the fabric store and picked up a larger piece for less than half price.

Dave is right, too when he says it's probably closer to 1.0 gain.

OK,

So it is BOC; I always thought it may be in the back of my mind; is it possible to clean it and if so with what, I may just end up leaving it dirty and trying to paint over it. If I do try to paint it are their any tricks to get it to adhear strongly 8)
