Hello, ive got an LG RT44NA11T CRT rear projection TV here that ive just been given, ive got the service manual for it too, and what i want to know is how much effort would it be to add the SCART connector onto it that was left off in the factory?
I have the board out on the bench, and its all quite well labeled as to where the SCART socket goes, but what else do i need to add on in the way of other components? There is a few bare spots near the SCART socket, but then there is a few other bare spots on other parts of the board too.
I have looked in the service manual for the info on how to turn the SCART socket on and off in the menus, that shouldnt be an issue.
Another question i have is getting into the service mode with the standard remote, which is model number 6710V00084T. It doesnt seem to have a button anywhere that says SVC on it.

Hi,
I had a look at the LG RT-44NA11T schematics (Chassis MP015A) where the SCART-socket is populated (AV4). I think it should be enough adding the parts as illustrated in below excerpt. However there is a small circuit near IC201 involving a Transistor (Q201) and some passive components. If this part is blank too I can post the relevant cutout. Of course you can have my entire copy of the manual too.
In general I would have thought it was the difficult part letting the set know it has an additional input (a possible firmware issue) but as you've already figured out how to configure this in the service menu it shouldn't be a problem anymore...

Thanks mate  Thats the same part i tracked down in the service manual i have here.
So just add all those missing parts and change the setting in the service manual and it should work?
At IC 201 on the MP-015A, i have a 4 caps, then 6 resistors all to the left, a larger cap above the IC 201, and Q201 is present below and slightly right, infact the only piece NOT present in that section of this board is R216, everything else is there.

Then, as far as I can see now, that should be it. You even can omit parts that you might not be needing (e.g. the parts for Audio out)...

I wont be using the audio on the TV, so i wont be bothered with that sort of thing

Im pretty suprised to see they use a pretty large amount of the phosphor for a rear pro TV, although these tubes look to be very small. The lens on each tube is tiny. There is some sort of electrical connection to the astig rings, and some sort of coil wound around the inside of them. The tubes are apparently made by Samsung... Seems funny the Samsung rear pros of simular size used Panasonic tubes!!
