Hi All,

I purchased my G90 with the following card already in it.

It has IFB-HD V1.32 2007.03.08 BY moome on the board.

The card works just fine but I am wondering what advantages I would get by upgrading to a newer V2 card?

I will be putting 1080P into the G90 from a HTPC via HDMI.



Also, if I converge the G90 with this card in it, If I replace it with a newer card into the same slot, would I have to redo the convergence?

I believe the earlier HD-series Moome products (cards and external boxes) were all limited to 1080i due to the components used. I own a now-retired EXT-HD box, and it had a max resolution of 1080i. The Full-HD series introduced 1080p capability (hence the name change) as well as other improvements in picture quality.

That's one of Moome's must old older IFB-HD cards that includes both HDMI and component (Y/Pb/Pr) input. the gamma boost circuit was optional - it seems you have it installed but manual says it was only available on PCB v1.33 or later. Does gamma work if you use the gamma up/down buttons on the remote? The manual is here if you're curious: http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/sony_hd_v12.pdf

After that card he came out with the IFB-FULLHD which introduced 2 HDMI inputs (no component) and better image quality and built in gamma boost.

Now his most recent version is the IFB-FULLHD v2 and will give you greater sharpness, higher bandwidth, less noise, and more. See the manual here: http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/ifb_fullhd_v20.pdf

The better the projector, the more noticeable the quality difference. The G90 is the best projector you can put this card in so if anyone notices a difference, it'll be you.

Rolls-Royce mentioned that it would only do 1080i but I don't remember that at all... the manual does say 1080p is supported. You wouldn't want to watch 1080i too much on a G90 - the scanlines would be pretty noticeable. 1080p is the preferred resolution on a G90.

Kal, I went back and checked my manual for the EXT-HD, and you are correct that 1080p was supported. Don't know where I got that!
