|
|
Hi,
3 months ago my Barco data 800 had a defect Horizontal deflection board. The module was replaced, together with the SMPS module and the problem was solved.
Last week, the old problem was back.
I can replace the Horizontal deflection board again but i think thats not a good idea. I'm afraid it breaks down again.
Does anyone of you know what can cause the defect in the deflectionboard?

Typically nothing outside of the H board causes that problem. You're dealing with a fairly old set (15 years), so problems will occur. Besides, you probably installed a used board, so who's to say that the second H board wasn't close to failing?

Thanks Curt.
Good to know that typically nothing else can cause that problem.
You have a lot of experience. What parts on the deflection board usually fail? (or do you have a spare one for sale?)

I've got lots. There's no one part that seems to fail more than others. LEt me know, we can do a swap.

Thanks Z-photo.
The picture was taken with wide angel from a very "adverse" position.
It makes the Barco so huge!! . Almost everyone reacts with a WOW.
I also like photography. Looked at your website. Looks great!

Yesterday I received the new Horizontal deflectionboards (Thanks Curt ) Replaced the defect one and...........the problem is still there....
I can't get the geometry to setup right. The zone convergence is only working for the center of the screen, the other zones can be selected, but when I'm adjusting, nothing moves...The geometry is one big mess. The picture shows the rasters after the geometry setup (!!)
Can you guy's please help me to solve this problem?

Well if you would have posted that picture, I would have said that this is not an H deflection problem.. I _assumed_ that you had a scan fail, and that you had narrowed it down to the H board.
Anyways, either the H shift board or the convergence board is bad. Both can cause no convergence control.

Thanks Curt.
Well... positive thing is that I received the deflectionboards, and they where in good condition after the long trip.........
I removed the convergence board. There was a resistor missing.
I found a black one ( ) at the bottom of the projector. (SR2)
Both the SR2 and SR3 resistors are burned.
I'll replace them to see if they burn again......

I replaced the two resistors. After starting up the projector they burned again, so there is something shorted. I replaced the IRF 632, IRF 9630 FET's and all the BD 651 en 652 transitors.
After powering up the projector everything was OK.
BUT......
The zone convergence only works in ZONE's 3,8,17 en 22.
For blue on green, the zones 17 en 22 only work horizontally en not vertically.
I'm afraid a have to replace the convergence board.
Or can anything else cause this problem?

The problem with these convergence boards is that they are too large, and now due to age and heat there's lots of bad traces and solder joints that can crack. I think you've found all of the bad parts, now look for bad solder joints.
Some runs of BArco boards can break the trace right between a solder pad and hte trace that runs to other parts. The SMPS do that a lot, but I've seen the odd convergence board do it too.
THe last 4 convergence boards all had bad solder joints, no parts were actually defective.

Hi, i have the same problem, resistor burn.
I try with other convergence board and the resistor burn the same....
Is possible that the problem is in other board that shorts convergence board?
Thanks
Maurizio

Usually not. I've got working boards here if you can't fix that one.

Then i have two defected boards... i'm unlucky...
If short is in convergence board i could try to test or replace the transistor.
This evening i can try to replace burn resistor and do some test.
Thank you Curt.

Before convergence problem i have smps problem, now solved with a new one.
Is it possible that convergence board problem cause a smps failure?
Thanks
