Hi all,
I have a 1272 from a while ago that I replaced with my G90 recently. now that my 1272 is not being used I decided I would try to replace the blue tube with a replacement I picked up on ebay. The replacement i bought was **used** but in a lot better condition than mine (tube face wear 5/6 compared to 7/8). the tube was also from a barco model pj that I knew used the same tubes as the 1272. the tube had a hv lead and all the magnets yokes etc. using the guide from this forum about replacing g90 tubes, I pulled out my old tube, removed the hv lead and attaching parts did the same thing to the new tube and installed all the parts from my tube onto the new one. I re-installed it all crossed my fingers and turned on the pj. crack crack crack and off went the pj.
Now, I did see a yellow/orange glow from somewhere near the blue tube. I could not detect any burning smell so I turned it on again (probably not the best thing to do but I didnt know what else to do, and I wanted to know if I had just blown my whole pj or just the blue tube) crack crack crack and off again. phew!!! my pj was not completely dead.
1 more time for the dummies only this time I did it with the pj opened up so i could actually see the tubes. same thing crack crack crack etc. this time I saw the arcing coming from the edge of my silicone around the HV lead cup which was the yellow/orange light i saw the previous times. I also noticed that the amount of silicone I applied was less than what was applied before because the amount that squeezed out from under my hv lead cup was not as much as what is on the other 2 tubes or what was there on the original blue tube i took out.
So, is this arcing because I didnt apply enought silicone or was there some other mod needed to change the barco tube to be sony compatible (other than the sony hv lead). has this permanenlty damaged the replacement tube?
PS I'm not really upset if the pj is toast. I was only really trying it because I have a set of brand new tubes for the G90 that I will eventually have to change so I figured i would perform my first "surgery" on a patient where the result is not that important to me

You need a new HV lead. I've got them at $25 incl shipping.

Ok but it was not doing this with the old tube. Did i damage it when i removed/installed it?

This happened to me when I changed out my tubes. I grabed the HV lead at the top of the boot to squeeze it, and I ended up putting pin sized holes in the boot. The other two tubes I carefully cut underneath the boot with an exacto knife until I could lift the boot enough to stick a pair of needle nose plyers in to squeeze the pins. Anyway, no amount of silicone could cure that torn HV lead. I ended up having to buy one from Curt and replace it.

okay curt i checked your site where do you have the hv leads for sale? I guess I will also need 3 leads for my g90 tubes.
