Curt, that projector is sooooooop antiquated. See what it looks like, but it's not really up to par with current lower priced digitals.

It's actually my first Qualia repair. Waiting for a chip that should be here on Monday. I found a couple of bad parts already, I think the chip is the last thing it needs.

Is that the projector that you yelled "It doesn't do black." to the presentation at CES one year?

Hahaha, no that was the TI 3 chip digital cinema projector. It did indeed get a good laugh from the audience. One of my finer moments..

Watch that, those TI people all have security clearance.
Heard that the DLP chip was originally designed as an optical lock for nukes...but I can't get that confirmed...
...or denied!
Cheers

You know... there are most people out there that wouldn't buy a CRT because its heavy.... the average PJ like a 1272Q NEC PG or XG etc... is 120-150lbs...
Thatt qualia is 90 pounds.... for a digital...
So I say... excuses!

Some dude is flogging one of these on avs for 2400?
I don't understand why people think this is worth 2400 dollars. 3000:1 contrast, huge, expensive lamps, no 24p.... no thanks.

I agree. Considering the price of the replacement bulbs, and the quality of the modern alternatives, the machine's value really should have dropped to almost nil, or perhaps whatever they're worth in terms of replacement parts. Other than brightness, it doesn't really have anything going for it.
