Thought I'd share this one.
Customer that I sold an 8500 to has a second '8500' that had some issues. It was supposed to be an 8500, but it didn't have the astig stuff in it, so I assumed that either it was an 8110 with an 8500 back cover, or an 8500 that someone had changed to an 8110 for some reason. I sold him the astig conversion stuff (yokes, driver, output board), and the customer installed it, but said that the astig menu didn't come up in the menu. So he sent me the CLM... and it's an 8000! Old style battery, jumpers all over the CLM, etc.
So.. what I need to know if anyone knows, what version of old 8000 firmware will recognize the astig daughter board?
Oh, the convergence board apparently is the new style, as my astig output board plugs in fine, go figure.
Thanks!

Stump the technician! Running older clms in newer Marquees can mess up the backplane chip, I have seen this a few times. Did he look in the Service menu? Every 9000 since day one had functioning stig on the same firmware, so maybe the older clm lacks forward compatibility and nuked the backplane chip?
