Quesiton for those of you that have done this. Now, I just want to state a disclaimer that I don't want to restart the debate on Tube life with this! Laughing

I bought a Panamax for cheap, and one of its functions is siwtching on and off a series of outlets based on either its power button or a DC trigger. My plan is to take my Marquee off a normal outlet and plug it into a switched outlet on the Panamax so when its not in use, power is completely turned off. Mostly because I don't want to hear it even though it does have an LVPS fan mod, but also because I don't want heater voltage on my tube investment and it will be disconnected from power in case of some kind of surge. So to the question...

If for some reason I don't get a projector standby command to the Marquee and the Panamax switches off the power, will the projector and tubes be harmed by a possible spot burn? I'm trying to think of everything so that the Marquee safely goes to standby before the Panamax switches off the power, but it would be nice to know the worst case. Currently I don't have anything fancy sending commands, just a Logitech Harmony ONE remote.

I don't think the power cut off would be a problem. At least I did it several times and nothing (bad) happened. There is an option called "auto power on" it works well in this case, it saves the state of the pjs power state ( when the pj was turned on during power cut off it will power on next time when power applied, but if the state was off when power pulled out nothing will happen)

My understanding is that this is totally fine on a properly functioning Marquee. Many systems were set up exactly in this fashion with triggered outlets and auto-turn-on and used for many years that way.

People more experienced than I should chime in if I'm wrong about that.

Guys!

Should work fine. I have a customer near me doing this for several years. Spot kill has been engineered well, any loss of sweep or power shuts the beam off at the neckboard, which for spot kill is self-powered by the two electrolytic caps.

Thanks for the responses guys! Sounds like it was designed to be shutdown while still on. I plan to program the Harmony Macro to put the projector in standby first, but it is nice to know in the event the projector doesn't get it and the panamax kills the power, no damage can happen.
