I seem to be able to download movies with a 16:9 ratio but when I burn the DVD it goes to 4:3 ratio with the black bars on all 4 sides
can someone let me know how I can fix this problem

There are alot of variables. Give us some details. What kind of files are you starting with? What software are you using to make the DVD?

I am using windows DVD maker
I usually dont convert but when I do I use Convert X to DVD even then I have the same problem
doesn't matter what files I use there mostly AVI though
