Need help with this Zenith projector.Worked fine for years.Recently picture dissapeared from time to time. Now is gone completly.Bulbs are fine.I can adjust each colour from insde. They blink for a second when I turn it on.I contacted Fixya.com.They told me. Power supply problem/bulky capasitors.I took it to the shop.Guy changed bunch of them on high and low voltage boards.
Cost me $150 and still no picture.I love this projector.
Please help.

Fixya is one of the more useless sites I've run across. They basically will tell you if you don't know how to operate your electronics item, but have no idea when it comes to the intenal workings of anything. Just FYI.

Do the menus come up normally? If not, did the projector shut down from time to time, and you had to turn the projector off and on a few times to get it to stay on? Do you have the original focus block installed?

Everything is original but few new capacitors I was talking about.I can see no menus,no screen.Few weeks ago I left it on for a day ,than picture came on.After I turned off .Never came back on again.I did not use it much over the years but I did not know that it should be unplugged from the wall if not used. Most of the time was conected.Could be this the reason?
thanx!

Can you pop the back cover off to see if the focus block is original? Zenith had massive problems with the earlier blocks, but changed to the 2 piece one about 1/2 way through production, and the later ones are really reliable. I'm guessing your focus block is bad, I think I have one left at $150 shipped.

That's the old style, and virtually guaranteed that's the problem. I replaced literally 100s over the years. I have one new style one left at $150 incl shipping. $100 refund if that doesn't cure it and you send it back. Let me know.

Sorry, you're right. Unfortunately this set has no troubleshooting LEDs, so it could be almost any board in the set. Most likely:

-HV board
-deflection board
-power supply
-possibly the new style focus block.
-CPU board

I can test a number of boards here and can send them to you if you want.
