Dear friends,

Maybe this is not the correct place to open this topic (Administrator please correct me), being a newbbie on this things, I'm having the following problem:

My setup is a sony bdp s350 --- hdfury III---gammax---bg808s port 5, the blu ray work perfectly but with the dvds the image is not wide enough. No adjustment in the barco allows me to correct this. How can I solve it?

One thing if I upscale dvd in my sony dvd recorder connect by HDMI it happens the same but if I change from Pal to NTSC I get it corrected. The problem is that I can't make such exchange with the bdp s350.

Thankx

The problem is with PAL and its porch settings. Not much you can do about it without a scaler or a PAL to NTSC format converter such as these but not cheap...

Your other option is to buy a region free upscaling DVD player such as a Momitsu and use it for SD PAL. Certainly a cheaper option.

If your scaler allows custom resolutions, I have found these settings very good for SD PAL material in my BG808s.

75Hz for non flickering image and porch settings are optimized for non V/H banding with BG808s.

Also make sure that you feed scaler with 576i 50Hz if possible, it's better that scaling is done in one place only.

Not sure if your scaler allows 1080i 95.904 Hz settings for 24p HD material, but here it's anyway.

95.904 Hz gives smoother playback than 60 Hz from blu ray player, because it's four times BR native refresh rate 23.976 Hz. So no conversion needed. If it doesn't work in your scaler you can try 1080i 71.928 Hz.
