I just changed the resolution coming from my TVOne's and ran into a really strange problem. Maybe one of you have seen it before and can give me some help.
As soon as I turned on the projector with the new resolution, the picture came up fine but obviously was going to need some reconverging as the timings are very different.
As soon as I entered the signal to register, the picture came up, but the red tube was VERY bright. I immediately turned down the contrast and brightness and noticed that while all three tubes went down when I turned down the brightnss including the red, even when I got to 0, the red raster was still lit up but not as bright. Only the red was affected, and its as though the black level on red is elevated way too much at any setting.
It gets stranger - I deleted all inputs from the memory, shut off the projector, turned it back on and it was OK. If I attempt to reregister the input, it happens again as soon as it is registered.
Also, while I can adjust any value in the menu without any problem, as soon as I try to "store" any value, another screen pops up and says:
NEW ENTRY?
List No. 51
Name: RGB 51
YES? NO?
I don't have any input registered in 51! It doesn't matter which selection I make, as the problem will occur as soon as I hit enter.
Also, as soon as I hit the "Picture" key on the remote - red gets elevated. The only way to stop it is to turn it off and back on again.
Any ideas? I have eliminated any problem in the video out board and the neck board.
Thanks,
Bob

is this a specific issue when using the TVones only? Have you tried a direct source plug in? This does sound like an odd issue, My XG1100 has never exhibited that issue at all, or any issue close to that.
Jerry might know, he is the NEC guru to me
Hope you get this figured out, to me it seems like the source/something in the video chain.
Jeremy

Bob,
Could you post your timings? Perhaps we can use the same settings and duplicate the issue with an HTPC. My guess is your probably using to large of porch settings in the horizontal timings.

Thanks for the reply's!
It isn't a porch issue as I have used this many times, and I switched inputs from the other 1/2 of the blend, and there was no change.
This has to be some sort of problem within the digital control, because as I said when I first turn it on, there is not a problem until I register the input or hit the "picture" button on the remote.
Curt has suggested some sort of problem with the AKB.
I think it needs a lobotomy!
Thanks,
Bob

It sounds like the projector is grabbing ENTRY data that is 'old' (made prior to your current G2 setup). Entries in list starting at 50 are from the factory unless they get changed by the user, so they may have been there and you didn't know it. My guess is that the projector is finding input 51 a close match to your new scan rate and the red shoots up as the AKB engages using the input 51 data for white balance. The fix should be to set up the G2 and then save the entry to the 'default' data area. By that I mean make a new signal entry (#1 for example) after you setup G2. Then go into the SIGNAL ENTRY menu and one of the selections is 'Save New Default'. Save the new entry as the defalt data.

Thanks Jerry - Yes, that sounds like exactly what is happening. When I get home from work today, I'll redo G2 and save it as default.
BTW - Where is this data stored so I can look further if itdoesn't work.
Thanks,
Bob

Or just copy a good working entry, like the one you were using, to the new entry and setup from there. Not to throw more bones in the works, just something that maybe easier.
